Kylian Mbappe has acknowledged
the existence of a transfer “agreement” at Paris Saint-Germain, yet clubs such as Real Madrid and Liverpool are eagerly awaiting his decision. The World Cup-winning French international is now in the final six months of his contract with Parc des Princes.

This grants him the freedom to engage in discussions with clubs beyond Ligue 1, with no extension clause activated thus far.

Real Madrid and Liverpool have both been linked to the 25-year-old prolific forward, PSG’s all-time leading goalscorer. Despite being in the final months of his contract, Mbappe, who previously waited until the last moment to sign his latest deal in 2022, has yet to provide clarity on his future plans. This leaves fans and the football community in suspense, with speculation surrounding his potential move intensifying.

Mbappe said after helping PSG to Trophee des Champions glory in a 2-0 victory over Toulouse: “I haven’t made my decision. I didn’t make a choice. But in any case, with the agreement I made with the president this summer, whatever my decision, we managed to protect all the parties.

“And to preserve the serenity of the club for the challenges to come. Which is the most important? When will I decide? I do not know. In 2022, I waited because I didn’t know until May.

“If I know what I’m going to do, I’m not going to hang around. That does not make any sense. But, like I said, the most important thing is to win trophies. The team and the group are looking towards that. My situation, no one talks about it within the club. I just want to help win trophies, like I did today.”

Pressed further on whether being used as a roaming central striker rather than a wide forward will influence his decision to stay at PSG, Mbappe added, “My position? When I speak with Luis Enrique, he tells me that a good player can play in several positions. I think

I’m a good player. Today, I play in the centre. But no matter what position we play, it adapts according to the qualities of the player. Which means that we are not disoriented. I would have no problem performing. Does this freedom on the pitch encourage me to stay at PSG? What is the relationship between the two things? I have always been important. It is a continuation of the evolution that I have had since my arrival in Paris.”
