Israeli attacks on southern Gaza claim more than 100 lives

More than 100 Palestinians have died in air attacks in the southern part of Gaza, according to officials. Despite instructing civilians to seek shelter in that area, the Israeli military continues to attack it.

Many people who died had left their homes in the north to escape from a big attack on the group Hamas.

The military said it attacked several places belonging to Hamas in the southern area.

People are increasingly worried about the living conditions of people in Gaza.

The US said they had made a plan with Israel to help send aid to the people living in a place controlled by Hamas. This is because the United Nations (UN) aid agencies said that the hospitals did not have enough fuel and it would run out in less than a day. They also said that there was very little water and the stores only had a few days of food left.

There is a belief that Egypt’s Rafah crossing will be opened to allow important aid to enter and allow Palestinians with foreign passports to leave. However, on Monday, it is reported that a building at the crossing was damaged by an Israeli strike.

Israel stopped the supply of electricity, water, food, and medicine through its crossings because Hamas militants attacked its borders on 7 October. The attack resulted in the death of at least 1,300 people and 199 others being taken hostage.

Over 2,800 people have died in Israel’s attacks on Gaza, as reported by health officials.
The situation in southern Gaza overnight is causing a lot of concern for the many people who followed the Israeli military’s order last Friday to leave northern Gaza for their own protection. The BBC’s Rushdi Abu Alouf in Khan Younis reported on this.

Local authorities in Khan Younis have reported that three Israeli airstrikes resulted in the deaths of over 100 individuals, with a majority of them being people who had been forced to leave their homes.

Amin Hneideq shared that his daughter got hurt when a bomb exploded and destroyed a house close by. Sadly, the bomb also took the lives of a family who were running away towards the south. “He told Reuters news agency that they brought them from the north only to attack them in the south. ”

The Israeli military said it attacked places where Hamas operates in Khan Younis, Rafah, Zeitoun, and Jabalia. They targeted command centres, military buildings with people inside, and places where Hamas members hide.

Many people who had to leave their homes in Khan Younis said to the BBC that they were getting ready to bring their things and go back to their houses.

A man said he had been sleeping on the street for a few days. He didn’t want to die of thirst and would rather die with respect.

Khan Younis, Rafah, and other towns in the south have struggled with the task of housing and providing food for over 600,000 people who have been forced to leave their homes. An additional 400,000 people have found a safe place to stay in another area of the Strip.

Filmmaker Yousef Hammash said that every day, people are struggling to find food for their children. This is causing a lot of stress and people are only focused on surviving.
On Tuesday, a store in Gaza City sent water to Khan Younis. This was risky because there was no guarantee that the Israeli forces would not attack the trucks transporting the water.

The UN’s agency for Palestinian refugees, called Unrwa, stated that Israel allowed water to flow into southern Gaza for a short period of three hours on Monday. However, only 14% of the 2. 2 million people living in Gaza were able to use this water.

The seawater desalination plant in Gaza that was still working had to close because it didn’t have enough fuel. This is making people worry more about getting dehydrated and getting sick from dirty water.

The hospital in Khan Younis is having a hard time taking care of the many people hurt in air attacks. They said they will run out of fuel for their extra generators at midnight, and this will put the patients’ lives in danger.

People are trying to get more fuel from nearby gas stations and businesses so that the hospital can continue to operate.

The World Food Programme also mentioned that stores in Gaza only had enough food for about four or five more days. It said that there might be a few extra days in storage places, but the Israeli attacks were making it hard to get to them.

Even though people were warned, a speaker for the Israeli military said that there is no big problem that threatens people’s well-being in Gaza at the moment.

“We don’t have the promise to give Hamas electricity,” Lt Col Richard Hecht said to BBC Newsnight.

The people who attacked us have been in charge of the Gaza Strip for many years. They have power. I can also see water in the southern part of Gaza.

The UN human rights office stated that Israel’s request for 1. 1 million people to leave their homes, along with the blockage of goods entering Gaza, might be considered as forcefully moving civilians against the rules set by international law.

Spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani also mentioned that there should be a separate investigation into the reports of attacks on civilians trying to escape. She also warned that punishing the entire population for the actions of a few militants is not fair.

The office has asked again for Hamas and other Palestinian militant groups to release all the hostages in Gaza right away and without any conditions. They also want them to stop shooting rockets randomly at cities and towns in Israel.
Yesterday, Hamas shared a video of a young woman named Mia Shem. She is 21 years old and is from Israel and France. In the video, she said that she was taken captive at a music festival where more than 260 people were killed.

On Tuesday, Keren, the mother, spoke at a news conference and pleaded to the world to help bring her baby back home. She went to a party just to enjoy herself. And now she is in Gaza, and she is not the only person there.

There are babies, children, and old people who were survivors of the Holocaust and were taken away forcefully. This is a terrible crime against people.

The Israeli military strongly criticized the hostage video, calling it a form of psychological terrorism.
