Accra Regional Police Commander summoned over #OccupyJulorbiHouse brutalities

The Police Management Board (POMAB) has summoned COP Sayibu Gariba, the Accra Regional Police Commander, to provide explanations regarding the use of excessive force against participants in the #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest.

The demonstration, held to voice grievances about the government’s economic policies and alleged corruption, witnessed mass police arrest on September 21.

In the midst of this, the Police Service has issued an apology to the public for any inconveniences caused during the three-day protests.

Organized by the Democracy Hub group, the #OccupyJulorbiHouse demonstration aimed to compel the government to address economic challenges and probe allegations of corruption.

The protest occurred from September 21 to September 23, with protesters assembling at the 37 Lorry Station and attempting to march to the Jubilee House, the government’s official residence, but were prevented from doing so by the police.
