Manchester United places Jadon Sancho on first-team suspension

Manchester United has taken disciplinary action by suspending English winger Jadon Sancho from the first team due to behavioural issues.

In an official statement released on Thursday, September 14, 2023, the club announced that the player has been placed on a ‘personal training programme.’

“Jadon Sancho will remain on a personal training programme away from the first-team group, pending resolution of a squad discipline issue.”

Jadon Sancho’s suspension is a consequence of his public response to Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag’s justification for omitting him from the team’s lineup against Arsenal on Saturday, September 3, 2023.

Erik Ten Haag had explained that Sancho was excluded due to subpar performance in training sessions.

Sancho, in his reaction to Ten Haag’s explanation, claimed that he was being unfairly singled out as a “scapegoat.”

He now becomes the second player to face suspension, following Antony, who is currently under investigation for allegations of domestic violence.
