Armando Broja’s loan from Chelsea to Roma has been discussed, but the Blues are unwilling to let the striker leave the team.
The 21-year-old has been sidelined since the end of 2022 due to a major knee injury, but he is very close to finishing his recovery and could return to the field by next month.
It is a little surprising that Roma would want to sign him to a short-term contract given how long he has been sidelined and how unfit he still is, but according to Sky Sports, the Italians have spoken to the Blues about the potential of taking the Albanian on loan.
Chelsea, however, has rejected the Serie A team’s request to sign Broja, especially in light of Christopher Nkunku’s recent significant knee injury, which could keep him out until December.
AC Milan has also expressed interest in the teenage forward, but should they make a bid for him, they will face the same opposition as Roma.
With summer acquisition Nicolas Jackson starting the opening Premier League match of the year as Chelsea drew 1-1 with Liverpool, new Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino does not have an abundance of options for the central striker position.
While Pochettino has access to other forwards, they are either more at home out wide or deeper, while Romelu Lukaku is still with the team but is anticipated to leave before the transfer window shuts.
Jackson looked energetic throughout the entire game against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, but he missed one very fine opportunity.
