According to sources, the official birth certificate revealed Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have named their first child RZA Athelston Mayers.
It appears that the name RZA is a tribute to Robert Fitzgerald Diggs, the leader of the Wu-Tang Clan.
The baby boy’s middle name, Athelston, honors his father, Rakim Athelaston Mayers. The birth certificate also confirms that RZA was born on May 13, 2022.
Clues about the name choice were evident as Rihanna was seen wearing Wu-Tang Clan and RZA merchandise after the birth of her son.
Three months post-delivery, she donned a vintage RZA concert t-shirt paired with a black jean miniskirt and matching thigh-high slouchy denim boots.
In recent photographs taken in Paris, the “Diamonds” singer was spotted carrying her little boy while wearing a Wu-Tang Clan shirt.
Rihanna, who is currently pregnant with her second child, spoke about the joys of motherhood with British Vogue in February.
“It’s everything,” she said of being a mom. “You really don’t remember life before, that’s the craziest thing ever. You literally try to remember it—and there are photos of my life before—but the feeling, the desires, the things that you enjoy, everything, you just don’t identify with it because you don’t even allow yourself mentally to get that far, because…Because it doesn’t matter.”
