Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, has said he will work extremely hard to earn a spot with the senior national football team ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
In a BBC interview, Gyan revealed his intention to play actively for the Ghana Black Stars. Since his announcement, Gyan has received divided opinions from citizens.
According to his critics, Gyan has been inactive since leaving Legon Cities at the end of the 2020/21 season hence cannot feature at the World Cup.
But according to Gyan while speaking on the Dentaa Show, he will resume active football with any club in the Ghana Premier League to present him acceptable for a call-up.
“Anything can happen, but I want to earn the call-up rather. I want to start playing competitively. It could be anywhere. It could be in the Ghana [Premier] League,†he said.
“I want to see myself in a team playing week in and week out before I can consider going to the World Cup,” he added.
Ghana have been housed in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay.
The 2022 World Cup is scheduled to kick off from 20 November to 18 December.
