Former Kotoko star Nii Adjei turns to ‘farming for survival’ amid coronavirus shutdown

Former Asante Kotoko captain Daniel Nii Adjei has ventured into farming as a means of “survival” as coronavirus shutdown continues to bite footballers in Ghana.

The 31-year-old midfielder is now harvesting maize in the West African country due to the absence of football.

Ghanaian football has been on suspension since March this year due to the outbreak of the novel virus.

With his current club King Faisal struggling to pay wages of players amid the coronavirus shutdown, the former TP Mazembe ace turned to a new profession to survive.

“Due to the COVID and absence of football, I started some farm and currently I’m harvesting maize,” Nii Adjei told Accra-based Angel FM

“I can’t say cos of COVID-19, I’ll sit at home and be hungry while there’s rain and fertile land available.”

Nii Adjei is a celebrated former Kotoko skipper who spent six fruitful years with the Ghanaian giants before joining Congolese outfit TP Mazembe.

He returned to the Porcupine last season but his contract was terminated due to poor performance.
