A fire outbreak at the Osama Lorry Station in Agona Swedru resulted in the destruction of seven containers holding various items.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, May 10, 2024, and was swiftly responded to by firefighters from Agona Nsaba, led by Assistant Station Officer (ASTNO) Francis Amonoo, with support from the Winneba Fire Station.
Despite facing challenges due to the local fire tender being out of commission, the firefighters managed to bring the fast-raging fire under control and completely extinguish it by 03:30 hours, preventing it from spreading to nearby properties.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and fortunately, there were no reported injuries.
However, two containers containing yams, clothes, and plastic containers were partially damaged, while seven other containers holding refrigerators, roofing sheets, car spare parts, and utility items were completely destroyed.
The prompt and coordinated efforts of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), along with the collaboration of firefighters from Agona Nsaba and Winneba, played a crucial role in averting a potential catastrophe.
