Ludogorets striker Bernard Tekpetey believes that winning the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations title will be a challenging task for the Black Stars.

Despite an impressive performance with 11 goals and seven assists for Ludogorets this season, Tekpetey was not included in the final squad after initially being part of the 55-man roster.

In an interview with Asempa FM, monitored by Footballghana.com, the Bulgarian-based striker acknowledged the difficulty of Ghana securing the title. However, he expressed optimism that, with the support and prayers of Ghanaians, the team has the potential to excel.

“The AFCON tournament will be difficult but as Ghanaians, we need to support the team. Winning the trophy will not be easy for Ghana but with support and prayers from Ghanaians, the team can excel.”

“In previous years, the Black Stars were loved by Ghanaians, so if we will bring it back, I think the players available are really good enough to do something good.”

The Black Stars are set to compete for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in Ivory Coast this month, with the tournament scheduled from January 13 to February 11, 2024. Ghana, drawn in Group B, will face Egypt, Mozambique, and Cape Verde in the group phase.

Ghana has a storied history in the AFCON, winning the title four times, with the last triumph in 1982. However, since then, they have faced defeats in three finals, including losses to Ivory Coast in 1992 and 2015, both on penalties, and to Egypt in 2010. Despite the challenges, the Black Stars aim to secure their fifth AFCON title, and the support and prayers of Ghanaians are seen as crucial for the team’s success.

The Black Stars will vie for their fifth Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in Ivory Coast this month. Placed in Group B, they will contend with record-winners Egypt, Mozambique, and Cape Verde in the group stage. The tournament is scheduled to commence on Saturday, January 13, and extend until February 11, 2024.

Ghana boasts a successful AFCON history, clinching the title four times, with the most recent victory in 1982. However, they have faced setbacks in three subsequent finals, including penalty shootout losses to Ivory Coast in 1992 and 2015, along with a defeat to Egypt in 2010. Despite these challenges, the Black Stars are determined to secure another AFCON triumph.
