‘Timeless’ by Davido sets new stream record on Spotify, Boomplay

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Davido recently smashed yet another record in his illustrious career by having his most recent album, “Timeless,” receive the most first-day streams of any album ever on Spotify Nigeria and Boomplay.

This has increased the number of achievements the album has already made since Davido announced the arrival of his much awaited fourth studio album on his social media accounts early on Friday morning.

The 17-track album received 4.91 million streams on Spotify Nigeria on the first day of release, breaking Burna Boy’s “Love, Damini” record of 1.36 million streams (July 8, 2022).

The album broke the previous record for the first day of streams on Spotify by 3.61 million streams (4.91 Million streams).

Timeless scored 4.91 million listeners, beating out Burna Boy’s Love, Damini (1.36 million), Wizkid’s More Love, Less Ego (1.21 million), Asake’s Mr Money With The Vibe (992 thousand), Fireboy’s Playboy (524 thousand), Rema’s Rave & -Roses (396 thousand), and Omah Lay’s Guy Alone (335 thousand).

In a similar vein, Davido’s “Timeless” album shatters the record for Boomplay’s greatest first-day streams with 7.25M streams, beating Burna Boy’s “Love, Daminiprevious “‘s record (3.38M).

The album’s opening track, “OVER DEM,” set a platform record on March 31 with 460,000 streams. The song “OVER DEM” by Davido surpasses the previous record for the most streams in a single day for any music on Spotify Nigeria (460K).

The 17-track album includes Nigerian musicians like The Cavemen, Fave, Asake, DMW’s newest artists, Morravey, and Logos Olori, as well as Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Angelique Kidjo from Benin, rapper Skepta from Nigeria, South African music producer/DJ Musa Keys from South Africa, and Jamaican dancehall/reggae singer Dexta Daps.

The tune “Champion Sound,” which features Focalistic and was made available in 2021, is also included on the album.
