Terrorist with Boko Haram, wife, turn over themselves to the army

A member of Boko Haram, along with his wife, has turned themselves in to the troops stationed at the 26 Task Force Brigade Garrison in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, announced this development in a statement released on Tuesday, August 22, 2023.

“Following troops’ aggressive combat operations against insurgents in the north east, one Boko Haram fighter alongside his wife surrendered to troops of 26 Task Force Brigade Garrison in Gwoza. Items recovered from the terrorist, include one AK 47 Rifle and 10 Live rounds of 7.62 mm Special Ammunition,” the statement read. 

During a distinct operation on August 21, 2023, forces belonging to the 1 Brigade Garrison, operating within the jurisdiction of the 8 Division, received actionable intelligence.

Acting on this information, they launched an ambush against insurgents who were en route to attack Bobo Village in the Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Engaging in a fierce confrontation with the insurgents, the troops successfully neutralized two of the criminals and seized two AK-47 Rifles, along with four motorcycles.

“The Nigerian Army enjoins all law abiding citizens to support its operations to enhance security across the country,” the statement added.
