Opoku Ware School narrowly advanced to the next stage of the 2023 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).
The school, popularly referred to as OWASS came up against Osei Tutu SHS and St. John’s School in the quarter-final stage contest today, October 16, 2023.
The first three rounds of the competition saw OWASS in the comfortable lead with its closest contender, Osei Tutu SHS, 9 points behind.
But the contest got fiercer when it got to the True or False phase in Round 4. Osei Tutu SHS worked assiduously to surmount OWASS but a 2-point margin separated the two schools.
Nerve-wracking it was when Osei Tutu SHS kept the steady pace to unseat OWASS from the lead position to grab a slot in the semi final stage.
But OWASS, unwavering in its determination to secure victory today, managed to maintain their stamina and ended the race with 45 points, granting them access to the next stage of the contest.
Osei Tutu SHS ended the race with 43 points, whereas the third school, St John’s School which struggled to find its feet ended up with 18 points.
