Rasmus Hojlund has disclosed the conversation he had with Casemiro when the Brazilian player grabbed him by his shirt during his Manchester United debut against Arsenal.
The Danish forward, who joined Manchester United from Atalanta this summer, made his debut at the Emirates Stadium against Arsenal last weekend.
Shortly after Casemiro came on for Anthony Martial, fans witnessed Casemiro clutching Hojlund’s shirt and engaging in an intense exchange of words. Hojlund has now shared what Casemiro told him, emphasising that the exchange had nothing negative about it.
Speaking at a press conference while on international duty with Denmark, Hojlund said: “He just said something in Spanish: ‘Vamos’ or something like that. He was happy that I gave the team perhaps a slightly different dynamic than what you get from Martial.
“He’s maybe a little more technically strong and looks down the gaps where I like to take the fights. After all, he hadn’t seen me play before, so he told me he was pleasantly surprised to see me play.”
Hojlund made a strong impression during his debut for Manchester United, but unfortunately, the match ended in defeat as late goals from Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus secured a 3-1 victory for Arsenal.
During the game, the striker went down inside the Arsenal box after a collision with Gabriel and appealed for a foul, but the referee did not award a penalty.
The next opportunity to see the new Red Devils signing in action will be when he represents Denmark in their Euro 2024 qualifying match against San Marino on September 7th.
