Former Black Stars player Christian Atsu, who lost his life in the Turkey Earthquake, has been mourned by many, and there have been various reports of his wife grieving over the incident.
A viral video captured a white woman, purported to be Atsu’s wife, mourning over her loss. In the video, she spoke about how she was trying to be strong for her children but missed her husband terribly.
“I know it hurts, but I’m trying to be strong for my kids. I miss him. I miss him so much,” she said in the video.
However, the woman with the TikTok ID @sofiakasy has since cleared the air about her alleged relationship with the former Black Stars player. She confirmed that she has no relations with Atsu whatsoever.
“I am getting a lot of comments about me being Atsu’s wife. I am not Atsu’s wife, I do not know even if I am saying the name right, but I feel sorry for his wife,” she said.
She clarified that her utterances were in reference to her fiancé, whom she lost during the disaster.
“I lost my husband, my fiancé, my everything in the Turkey earthquake, and I just wanted to come out here and let everyone know I am not Atsu’s wife,” she said.
Meanwhile, plans are underway to give Atsu a befitting burial, as promised by the government. After a meeting between his family, the Ghana Football Association and the Sports Ministry, it was announced that his one-week celebration would be commemorated on March 4, 2023.
