Alhassan Yakubu-Tali is ADB Plc’s new Managing Director

Alhassan Yakubu-Tali took over as Managing Director of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) on December 1, 2022.

His appointment comes following successful shareholder approval and regulatory approval from the Bank of Ghana (BoG), respectively, and follows Dr. John Kofi Mensah’s retirement, whose term expires on November 30, 2022.

Mr. Yakubu-Tali, a seasoned investment banker with more than 20 years of experience abroad, held the position of Deputy Managing Director of the Bank for the previous 5 years prior to his appointment.

He is a goal-oriented professional with remarkable abilities in managing people, creating new enterprises, managing risks, and adapting to different organizational cultures.

He was in charge of the 87 Bank retail locations as well as the Business Banking, Agribusiness, and Operations Divisions of the Bank.

He was primarily in charge of the Bank’s business units, accountable for operational performance, driving and enforcing a rigid performance culture within the Bank, and supporting the Managing Director in fostering an atmosphere that encourages staff commitment to the organization’s vision, mission, and strategy.

Mr. Yakubu-Tali has a Business Administration diploma from West London College in London as well as an MBA in marketing from City University in Bellevue, Washington (Frankfurt Campus).

He now holds positions on the boards of Agridev Limited, Cotton Development Authority, and Forestry Plantation Development Fund Management.

Mr. Yakubu-Tali joins the role of Managing Director with first-hand experience of the Bank’s trajectory and serves as Chairman of the Bank’s Strategy Implementation Committee. He is anticipated to steer the Bank’s expansion during the following stage.

Daasebre Akuamoah Agyepong II, the chairman of the ADB Board, expressed his congratulations on the appointment and Alhaji Yakubu-new Tali’s position.

“On behalf of the Board, we wish to congratulate Mr. Yakubu-Tali on his appointment and also assure him of our support, having been the Deputy Managing Director for the past five years, we are optimistic he will lead the Bank to higher heights” he said.

Mr. Yakubu-Tali expressed his appreciation to shareholders and the Board “I wish to thank all our shareholders and the Board of Directors for this opportunity to serve as Managing Director and thank my immediate predecessor, Dr. John Kofi Mensah for leading the team to position the Bank better than it was in 2016.”
