Joseph Amoako, a former forward for Asante Kotoko, has been given a two-year prison term in Sweden. According to reports, the 20-year-old attacker, who was on Helsingborgs IF’s books until his conviction, was found guilty of sexual assault.
Expressen.se claims that the young person was charged with the crime following a meeting with a 16-year-old female. Amoako allegedly introduced himself to the teen via social media and gave her match tickets for a Helsingborgs match. Later, he invited her to a party at his house.
The Ghanaian will serve a two-year sentence in Sweden before being sent back home as soon as it is finished. Amoah won’t be permitted to go back to the Scandinavian nation for ten years.
GhanaSoccernet reported that the player’s contract was cancelled following his sentence. Amoako initially joined Helsingborgs IF on loan from Asante Kotoko before his move was made permanent after impressing the technical handlers of the club.
