Another former Ghanaian player slapped with two years imprisonment in Sweden for sexual assault

Joseph Amoako, a former forward for Asante Kotoko, has been given a two-year prison term in Sweden. According to reports, the 20-year-old attacker, who was on Helsingborgs IF’s books until his conviction, was found guilty of sexual assault.

Expressen.se claims that the young person was charged with the crime following a meeting with a 16-year-old female. Amoako allegedly introduced himself to the teen via social media and gave her match tickets for a Helsingborgs match. Later, he invited her to a party at his house.

The Ghanaian will serve a two-year sentence in Sweden before being sent back home as soon as it is finished. Amoah won’t be permitted to go back to the Scandinavian nation for ten years.

GhanaSoccernet reported that the player’s contract was cancelled following his sentence. Amoako initially joined Helsingborgs IF on loan from Asante Kotoko before his move was made permanent after impressing the technical handlers of the club.

The 19-year-old attacker moved to the top flight side after just six months since joining the Porcupine Warriors from lower-tier Ghana side, Red Bull FC.

Helsingborg formally announced the signing of the teen sensation and have the option of making the deal a permanent one at the end of his loan spell. Kotoko sign Brazilian striker Ghana Premier League champions, Kumasi Asante Kotoko have announced the signing of Brazilian forward, Matheus Medeiros De Souza.

The forward joins the Porcupine Warriors on a six-month deal with the option of extending for a further year. De Souza is expected to boost the attack of the Reds, as they seek to defend the title they won last season.
