United Nations issue alert over potential disease outbreak after flood in Libya

The UN has warned that people in eastern Libya who were affected by flooding are at a high risk of getting sick due to polluted water and a lack of proper sanitation.

Teams from nine United Nations (UN) agencies are providing help to people in need. They are giving emergency medical supplies that can support 15,000 individuals for three months.

Last week, during a strong storm, two dams near Derna broke and caused the death of many people.

The UN says that 11,300 people have died and over 10,000 are still missing.

The United Nations in Libya is working with Libyan authorities and other countries to make sure that the correct help is given to the right people, at the correct moment.
