Gospel artist Diana Asamoah has voiced her optimism regarding the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) prospects in the upcoming 2024 general elections, despite conflicting prophecies from some religious leaders.
Among these is Rev. Owusu-Bempah, who has forecast a win for NDC candidate John Dramani Mahama.
Drawing inspiration from the biblical story of King Hezekiah, who altered his fate through prayer after being warned of his imminent death by Prophet Isaiah, Asamoah expressed her belief that the NPP could experience a similar turnaround.
While speaking at an NPP campaign event in the Ashanti Region on October 5, 2024, she highlighted the government’s accomplishments, including the Free Senior High School (SHS) initiative, asserting that these successes would play a significant role in securing their victory.
“2 Kings 2:1-7 tells us about how Isaiah prophesied to Hezekiah that he would die. Hezekiah cried out to the Lord to reverse it based on his service to God, and it was reversed; the Lord added 15 more years to his life. So the NPP government, including Akufo-Addo, Bawumia, and NAPO, will not accept defeat based on our good works like the Free SHS. Any doom prophecy against us will not stand; we will win the 2024 general elections,” she declared in Twi.
Her comments follow an incident on October 1, 2024, when Rev. Owusu-Bempah prayed for Mahama during a National Democratic Congress (NDC) meeting with clergy. During the prayer, the prophet asserted that Mahama’s kind nature would attract God’s favor, paving the way for his return to the presidency.
This prophecy has since ignited a wave of mixed reactions on social media, with many users questioning why Owusu-Bempah, who is known for his connections to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), would make such a declaration.
