Hearts of Oak coach Aboubakar Ouattara clashed with journalists following his side’s goalless draw against Dreams FC on Sunday.
The Phobians were hoping for a back-to-back win against the Still Believe lads in the Matchday 7 game at the Tuba AstroTurf.
However, the game ended goalless after 90 minutes of football.
Ouattara’s remarks followed a question on the team’s tactics, with the Ivorian manager emphasising his sole authority over the team’s decisions.
“I am the coach, and I’m the one to decide. I don’t need you to advise me on what I can or cannot do. The way you’re speaking suggests you have the right to dictate something,” he said.
“You’re a journalist. You ask your questions, and I give you my reply. Don’t expect me to give the response you want—I am the coach.”
“I am responsible for tomorrow’s match. If things don’t go well, I’m the one who signed the contract, not you. I don’t follow any commentary when making my decisions.”
The result means that Hearts of Oak remain unbeaten in their last five games, though they have managed to secure just two victories during this stretch.
Meanwhile, Dreams FC are still without a win after seven matches. Hearts of Oak will now turn their attention to their next fixture, hosting Bibiani GoldStars at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 27, for Matchday 8 of the league.
