Former Asante Kotoko striker Sogne Yacouba has missed a gold-coloured opportunity to fully fulfill his potential after his move to Medeama collapsed over an outrageous financial demand.
The 28-year-old failed to concretize a move to the most in-form Ghanaian Premier League side in the past two seasons.
He has now missed the chance to join the Mauve and Yellows – who are crafting a competent squad to challenge for the Premier League crown.
The Mauve and Yellows pulled the plugs over an outrageous $100,000 a year demand from the Burkinabe.
The two-time F Cup holders were hoping to pull a massive transfer coup by bringing the highly-rated striker to the mining town of Tarkwa.
But a sensational U-turn from the player scuttled the deal on Thursday night.
Both parties had reached a mutual agreement for the deal to be finalized but the player made a sensational U-turn on his financial entitlement to put the deal in jeopardy.
The club canceled a planned last minute meeting with the player and his representatives on Friday to bring a closure to his pursuit.
The deal has now been officially called off, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.
While Medeama officials have remained tight-lipped, GHANAsoccernet.com can report the Mauve and Yellows made a staggering offer for the player – but he shockingly changed his mind about the agreed amount which sparked outrage.
Yacouba was demanding for $100,000 a year contract- which the club deems ridiculous to cough up for a player at the twilight of his career.
The Burkinabe, who shot into prominence after his explosive performance for Kotoko in the CAF Confederation Cup two seasons ago, has now missed a golden chance to fulfill his potential with the ambitious Ghanaian side.
A GHANAsoccernet.com poll showed a significant 65.9% approval rate for the decision of the player to join Medeama.
With the suspension in Ghana and around the world due to the coronavirus outbreak, he will have to wait a little longer to get a new club.
