Uruguay will receive a six-month suspension for fighting with FIFA officials

Uruguay are likely to be banned for six months by FIFA after clashing with FIFA officials in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The South Americans defeated Ghana 2-0 in their last group game but it was not enough as both teams exited the group stage of the competition.

After the game, players from the Uruguay camp hounded the official, making their feelings known about what they thought of the decision following a decision to ignore a penalty appeal by referee Daniel Siebert, after a challenge on Cavani in the penalty box.

Jose Gimenez and Edinson Cavani were the most vocal with their heavy complaints to the officials.

An angry Cavani destroyed a Video Assistant Referee screen after the match at Al Janoub.

Goalkeeper Fernando Muslera and defender Deigo Godin were also heavily involved.

Article 12 relates to the “Improper conduct of players and officials”. This means that they would potentially be banned from playing for Uruguay.
