Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei defends men’s 10,000m title

The third day of the World Athletics Championships taking place in Eugene, Oregon, in the United States saw the men’s 10,000 metre race won by the defending champion and world record holder Joshua Cheptegei.

He won in a time of 27 minutes 27.43 seconds.

His fellow Ugandan, Jacob Kiplimo, came third.

They, and the second placed Kenyan Stanley Mburu enjoyed the applause from spectators.

The American Brooke Anderson claimed gold in the women’s hammer event, adding to the home nation’s success.
