Following Bayern Munich’s shocking loss to Mainz on Saturday, football supporters raced to social media to express their displeasure with Thomas Tuchel.
To the dismay of most supporters who had high hopes for the former Chelsea manager, Bayern lost a 1-0 lead at halftime and collapsed to a 3-1 defeat against Tuchel’s old haunts.
The defeat by Mainz follows a sad Champions League departure for the Bavarians, who were eliminated by Manchester City after losing 4-1 on aggregate over two legs, according to Eurosport.
Tuchel’s latest setback means he has won just two of seven games in charge of FC Hollywood and could move to second place in the Bundesliga if Borussia Dortmund beat Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday evening, BBC reports.
Following the defeat to Mainz, football fans questioned the tactical nous of the 49-year-old, suggesting he is overrated.
How fans reacted to Bayern’s loss
@analysispanel tweeted:
“Massively overrated, he implodes spontaneously.”
@antwigodwin62 added:
“Yes, he is overrated. He does nothing special, He defends all the time.
Another user, @RulixFelix, claimed Tuchel is similar to Frank Lampard:
“Him [Tuchel] and Lampard have something in common.”
@Only1Nelson suggested the 49-year-old was lucky at Chelsea:
“Tuchel is overrated, but we ain’t ready for that discussion. His lucky first 6-months magic got y’all overrating him.”
