Steven Gerrard has reportedly agreed to a two-year contract extension at Al-Ettifaq, despite his team’s recent poor form and the imminent departure of Jordan Henderson.
The former England international is set to remain with the Saudi Pro League club until 2027.
Despite Al-Ettifaq’s struggle for consistency and a winless run of eight matches, the board is supporting Gerrard and has committed to providing new signings to improve their performance in the SPL.
Gerrard, who joined Al-Ettifaq in July 2023, has the opportunity during the ongoing AFC Asian Cup break to address team weaknesses and find a replacement for the departing Henderson.
Henderson is expected to move to Ajax, with the midfielder reportedly undergoing a medical in Amsterdam.
Meanwhile, Gerrard is focused on preparing for Al-Ettifaq’s next SPL match against Al-Khaleej on February 15.
