Six suspects arrested by Spanish police for robbing residences of LaLiga footballers

Spanish authorities have apprehended six individuals suspected of being involved in a series of burglaries targeting the residences of affluent individuals in Madrid.

Among the victims were notable football players Radamel Falcao and Rodrygo Goes.

The arrests, which occurred on February 13, were made public this week.

Police seized various items during the operation, including watches, jewellery, cash amounting to €3,300, and two air pistols.

According to police reports, the burglaries took place between July 2022 and the time of the arrests in upscale neighbourhoods in and around Madrid.

The suspects demonstrated a high level of sophistication by gathering information about the layout of the homes and the occupants’ schedules from social media posts by the players and their associates.

Additionally, the suspects conducted reconnaissance to assess the security measures in place at the targeted properties.

Three of the detained individuals remain in custody, while the investigation into charges including robbery, forgery, and money laundering is ongoing.
