After a five-year construction process, the newly built Koforidua Multi-purpose Youth Resource Centre in the Eastern Region is set for its official commissioning.
This project, initiated in March 2018 with an estimated cost of $1.8 million, has transformed the ageing Koforidua Sports Stadium, which has been in existence for over 60 years, into a modern and updated facility.
Originally planned for completion within a year, the project faced delays due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic challenges it brought.
The Koforidua Multi-purpose Youth Resource Centre is one of the six centers to be inaugurated by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, in the coming weeks.
Upon completion, these centres will offer various amenities, including a 5,000-seat stadium expandable to 10,000, an eight-lane running track, tennis courts, a gymnasium, a basketball court, handball courts, an ICT centre, an entrepreneurship centre, and a restaurant.
