Ruben Amorim appears set to stay at Sporting CP, ruling out moves to Liverpool or West Ham, according to reports from Portuguese outlet Record.
Both clubs had shown interest in Amorim to address their managerial vacancies, with Liverpool seeking a successor to Jurgen Klopp and doubts lingering over David Moyes’ future at West Ham.
Despite recent talks with West Ham during a trip to London, no positive outcomes were reached. Talks with Liverpool have reportedly stalled since last week.
While the Hammers offered a more lucrative financial package, Amorim is said to be “keeping his options open” and could consider opportunities outside of England.
Sporting Lisbon, under Amorim’s guidance, have had a successful season, currently leading the Portuguese league by seven points and contending for the Taca de Portugal.
With Amorim likely to remain at Sporting, Liverpool and West Ham may need to explore other managerial options. Potential candidates for Liverpool include Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi and Feyenoord’s Arne Slot.
Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho’s appearance at Craven Cottage has sparked speculation about a potential return to the Premier League.
