VfB Stuttgart’s Ghanaian-born German midfielder, Roberto Massimo, is facing a setback as he is set to miss the upcoming game against champions Bayer Leverkusen due to muscular issues.
The 23-year-old winger has been sidelined from training this week, a fact confirmed by head coach Sebastian Hoeneß during a pre-match briefing on Friday.
Hoeneß assured that Massimo’s injury is not anticipated to be prolonged, indicating a hopeful outlook for his recovery.
However, it’s unlikely that he will regain fitness in time for Saturday evening’s away match against Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
“He hasn’t trained this week. It probably won’t be long-term and it will get better, but it won’t be enough for the weekend,” Hoeneß said.
Massimo’s absence is unlikely to greatly affect VfB Stuttgart’s lineup, considering his role as a substitute for much of the season. His last appearance was on matchday 19, during VfB Stuttgart’s 5-2 victory against Leipzig at the MHP Arena.
The Ghanaian midfielder has featured in five Bundesliga games for VfB Stuttgart this season.
