Real Madrid’s quest for the world’s top young talent persists, with their attention now focused on Man City defender Yan Couto, as reported by Marca.
At 21 years old, Couto is making waves as a right-back for La Liga leaders Girona during his loan spell from City. This marks his second loan stint at the Spanish club since joining City permanently from Coritiba in 2020.
Girona currently leads the division, securing historic victories against powerhouses like Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
Couto, known for his defensive prowess, also exhibits versatility by contributing to the attack and showcasing promise on the left side of midfield.
His outstanding form has attracted interest not only from Real Madrid but also from Bayer Leverkusen, especially since earning his debut call-up to the Brazil national team last October.
While Couto is under contract with Manchester City until 2025, discussions have arisen about the possibility of his return to feature under manager Pep Guardiola next season.
However, Real Madrid is expected to challenge City’s stance with a bid, viewing Couto as the ideal successor to aging stars Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vázquez—a potential “signing for a decade.”
Real Madrid’s scouting efforts extend beyond Couto, encompassing other promising young talents like Leny Yoro from Lille, António Silva from Benfica, and Sporting CP’s Goncalo Inacio.
