The FA Cup, established in 1871, holds the distinction of being the oldest football trophy in the world.
Throughout its history, the competition has served as a platform for numerous football icons to make their mark.
This esteemed list includes notable stars from various positions, such as midfield generals from Arsenal and top stoppers from Chelsea.
Take a closer look to discover which renowned players have graced this prestigious tournament.
1. Ashley Cole (seven wins)
Ashley Cole is the most successful player in FA Cup history after picking up a record seven winners’ medals — a haul that will take some beating.
The England left-back spent most of his decorated career at London clubs Arsenal and Chelsea.
He won three times with the Gunners (2002, 2003, 2005) before joining their rivals and adding four to his collection (2007, 2009, 2010, 2012).
He even scored a rare goal as Derby fell out of the competition with a 2-1 fifth-round defeat to Brighton in 2019 — his final appearance in the famous tournament.
2= Petr Cech (five)
Indisputably one of the best keepers of all time, Petr Cech’s career was full of trophies.
He won four FA Cup medals at Chelsea with former team-mate Cole before heading to North London and taking another crown with old foes Arsenal.
Cech’s most iconic moment in the tournament was an incredible save from Liverpool’s Andy Carroll in the final minutes of the 2012 final, which kept the score at 2-1 and secured victory for his side.
2= John Terry (five)
John Terry was the defensive rock of a trophy-laden era at Stamford Bridge.
In addition to five Premier League titles and a Champions League win in 2012, his illustrious career saw him lift the FA Cup five times during his time in West London.
Legendary skipper JT won his first Wembley final against Aston Villa in 2000 before defeating Manchester United, Everton, Portsmouth and Liverpool in subsequent finals.
2= Patrick Vieira (five)
Patrick Vieira’s stellar career included five FA Cup wins with all but one secured during the Arsenal legend’s time with the Gunners.
The fearsome midfielder’s final triumph came during a short spell with Manchester City, where he offered an experienced hand to Roberto Mancini’s side.
Fittingly, Vieira came off the bench for a brief cameo in the final to win a trophy in his final game as a player before embarking on a managerial career which has seen him take the Crystal Palace job.
