Phil Foden clinches Premier League Player of the Season award after an outstanding season with Manchester City.
He was nominated earlier this month alongside notable players such as Erling Haaland, Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard, Cole Palmer, Alexander Isak, Ollie Watkins, and Virgil van Dijk.
Now, the 23-year-old has emerged as the deserving winner of the prestigious accolade.
The England international said: “To win this award is an achievement that I am extremely proud of. The Premier League is acknowledged as the greatest league in the world, and it is a pleasure to have been nominated with so many other great players who have all enjoyed special seasons for their clubs.
Overall, I’ve been very happy with the way I have played this season and really pleased that I have been able to contribute with the goals and assists throughout the season.
I’d like to thank all of the City staff, coaches and especially my teammates because without them this wouldn’t be possible. And I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who voted for me as the award means a lot.”
The versatile winger, who also excels as an attacking midfielder, has enjoyed his most successful season yet with City, tallying an impressive 25 goals and 11 assists across all competitions.
His stellar performances have propelled Pep Guardiola’s team to the brink of securing their fourth consecutive Premier League title, and they are also vying for victory in the FA Cup final.
Foden’s exceptional individual campaign will culminate when City, in pursuit of the Premier League title, take on West Ham on Sunday, the final day of the season.
A victory against David Moyes’ side would secure City’s second consecutive title, edging out Arsenal in the race for the championship.
