Our players gave too much respect to Kotoko – Legon Cities coach Maxwell Konadu

Maxwell Konadu, the head coach of Legon Cities, has acknowledged that his team gave Asante Kotoko players too much respect during their Ghana Premier League encounter in week seven.

Legon Cities, who defeated the Porcupine Warriors 3-1 in their previous visit to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, forced the Porcupine Warriors to a 1-1 draw on Thursday.

Maxwell Konadu’s team fell down in the first half as Kotoko controlled and seized the lead thanks to Steven Mukwala’s 16th-minute penalty kick. However, Legon Cities drew level in the 49th minute thanks to Sadat Mohammed.

“I think our players gave too much respect to the Kotoko guys. I believed in the second half they could go and win the game. That’s what we spoke about,” he said after the game.

“We told them that we were not coming here to defend. We will play our game no matter what. That’s what happened. We opened up and tried to equalize and take the lead again but it didn’t come that way. I must say that both teams played well, created chances and I think a draw is a fair reflection of the game,”

Legon Cities will take on Bibiani Gold Stars in their next Ghana Premier League game.
