Northampton continue to rise up table with win

Northampton secured a 2-1 victory over Lincoln in a League One match at Sincil Bank.

Jon Guthrie opened the scoring for Northampton after half an hour, heading into an empty net from a Marc Leonard cross.

Kieron Bowie doubled the visitors’ lead with a left-footed shot from the edge of the area in the 58th minute.

Lincoln responded quickly with Timothy Eyoma’s close-range header from an Ethan Hamilton corner, setting up a thrilling finish.

However, any hope of a comeback was dashed when Paudie O’Connor received a straight red card for a deliberate elbow, and Northampton held on for all three points.
