Eric Bailly’s departure from Manchester United appears imminent as he awaits the club’s approval for his move to Besiktas, having already reached an agreement with the Turkish side.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, the center-back is on the brink of relocating to Turkey, following a challenging stint at Old Trafford that led to him spending the previous season on loan at Marseille in Ligue 1.
Having joined Manchester United in 2016 for a reported fee of £30 million ($38.17 million), Bailly has entered the final year of his contract, although the club retains the option to extend the agreement for an additional 12 months.
Despite the presence of a buy option in the Marseille contract tied to a specific number of appearances, Bailly was unable to meet the threshold due to a seven-game suspension resulting from a kung-fu kick challenge. Consequently, he made only 23 appearances for the French team.
Skipping pre-season training at Manchester United, Bailly was advised to seek new opportunities.
While reportedly receiving offers from two Saudi Arabian teams, including one supposedly from Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr, Bailly’s plans did not materialise in that direction, leading to his forthcoming move to Turkey.
Bailly’s aspiration to rejuvenate his career aligns with his upcoming journey to Besiktas, marking a fresh start following a relatively uneventful couple of years.
