SSC Napoli has officially announced the acquisition of Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku on a permanent transfer from Chelsea.
The move brings an end to Lukaku’s tenure at Chelsea and marks the beginning of a new chapter in Serie A for the prolific forward.
Lukaku, born on May 13, 1993, in Antwerp, Belgium, is 31 years old and stands at an imposing 191 cm. Known for his powerful presence on the pitch, Lukaku has been a dominant force in European football for over a decade.
He has consistently reached double figures in goals across 11 of the last 12 seasons in the top five European leagues, with the only exception being the 2021/22 season at Chelsea, where he managed eight goals.
Throughout his career, Lukaku has scored 224 goals in 480 league appearances, showcasing his remarkable consistency and goal-scoring ability. His international career has been equally impressive, with 85 goals in 119 appearances for Belgium.
One of the most notable periods in Lukaku’s career came under the guidance of coach Antonio Conte, who oversaw 47 of his goals in just 72 appearances, averaging a goal every 125 minutes.
Lukaku’s time in Serie A has also been marked by success, particularly during his tenure at Inter Milan. He has netted 70 goals in 129 Serie A appearances, with his best season being in 2020/21, where he scored 24 goals under Conte’s leadership.
