Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has been unexpectedly dismissed from his position as the head coach of Al-Qadsiah, even though the team was performing well, securing the second spot in the league.
Fowler’s tenure lasted only four months, during which the team achieved six wins and two draws in the opening eight matches.
Remarkably, Fowler was honoured with the Manager of the Month award for his team’s impressive performance in September.
This decision has raised eyebrows, particularly considering the team’s strong showing.
The team’s sole significant setback came in the King Cup of Champions, when they were defeated 2-0 by Al-Taawoun, a Saudi Pro League team.
Replacing the Liverpool legend, Al-Qadsiah has brought in former Sevilla manager and Real Madrid great Michel Gonzalez.
This marks his fourth managerial stint, having previously coached teams like Muangthong United, Brisbane Roar, and East Bengal.
Al-Qadsiah put out a statement announcing their decision that read: “Al-Qadsiah FC terminates its contractual relationship with coach Robbie Fowler.
We thank the coach for what he provided during the contractual period with the team.”
