Italy Football Federation has failed to grab on young talent Caleb Ekuban who was born in Italy by Ghanaian parents.
The 24-year-old accepted the nod to play for the Ghana Black Stars despite interest from the Italian Federation.
Caleb, 24, following his debut for the Black Stars against Kenya in the 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, were he even recorded his name on the score sheet is no more eligible to switch nationality.Though, Italy needs him for a build up ahead of World cup 2022.
The Italian-born striker in his last season had a poor campaign, netting just twice in 21 games following a surprise move from Chievo, and got loaned to Trabzonspor instead.
Ekuban has impressed in Turkey, bagging seven goals and three assists in 28 appearances for Trabzonspor to earn an international call-up.
Ekuban made his first ever senior international debut this month with a superb stainer for the Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium.
