Richard Oblitey Commey, newly crowned International Boxing Federation (IBF) Lightweight world champion, has taken a swipe at his long time local rival, Emmanuel “Gameboy†Tagoe.
According to Commey, his longest rival Tagoe, football star Asamoah Gyan has invested hugely into the career of Tagoe, but the he had nothing to show for it, hence there was no need concentrating on his rival.
“Asamoah Gyan has invested a lot for him to get a title like this (world title), but ask him where is it? Has he got anything like this (world title)?” Commey added.
Tagoe, the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Africa Lightweight champion was reported to have challenged Commey to a bout, since they were in the same weight division, adding that; “Commey cannot run away from meâ€.

But according to the new champion, even though he is not “scaredâ€of Tagoe, he was not interested in taking up any challenge from him.
Commey,31, said he was focused on fighting internationally for more world titles and would not allow himself to be distracted.
“Honestly speaking, I ain’t scared of him, but why would I challenge a fellow countryman. We want more world champions in this country,” he said.
Commey said this upon his arrival to a heroic welcome at the Kotokoa International Airport on Thursday, February 14, after he won a world title for the first time in his career and became the ninth Ghanaian world champion.
Commey destroyed Russia’s Isa Chaniev in two rounds to win by a technical knockout at the Ford Centre in Frisco, Texas, on February 2, 2019.
The new champion attributed his emphatic victory to having the best of training under new trainer, Andre Rozie.
