Wolverhampton Wanderers‘ forward, Goncalo Guedes, has conveyed his intention to remain with Benfica beyond the upcoming summer.
The Portugal international, originally under contract at Molineux until June 2027, embarked on a loan spell with Benfica in January 2023.
“I had this idea to continue at Benfica, and I had already told those responsible that it was possible,” he said. “The negotiations went well, and I stayed very happy because playing for Benfica is always like being at home. I’ve spent my whole life here and I hope, if I can, to stay here longer.”
Guedes, 26, underwent left knee surgery earlier this year and recently returned to play.
“I was injured for a long time,” he said. “I went through a difficult phase but that is now in the past. I hope to return to my level and be able to give great joy and help my team.”
