Lionel Messi allegedly took a swipe at Paris Saint-Germain before his move to Inter Miami, offering some tough advice to his now-former teammate Kylian Mbappe.
During his two-year tenure at PSG, Messi had a mixed impact, contributing an impressive 67 goals in 75 appearances.
While he achieved success at the domestic level, his aspirations for European glory remained unfulfilled, leaving both the Argentine superstar and the passionate PSG fanbase somewhat disappointed.
As Messi bid farewell to PSG amidst criticism from fans, reports surfaced suggesting that he advised Kylian Mbappe to consider leaving the club.
According to Defensa Central, Messi allegedly encouraged Mbappe to pursue his dream of becoming a Golden Ball winner by considering a move to either Real Madrid or Barcelona.
“I prefer that you go to Barca. But if you want to go to Madrid, do it. You deserve a real winning project,” Messi said, as quoted by GOAL.
With Mbappe’s contract entering its final stages, speculation has intensified regarding his future at Parc des Princes. The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a potential transfer to Real Madrid, adding further fuel to the already buzzing transfer rumours.
Hefty price tag for Mbappe
Meanwhile, Real Madrid will have to break their current transfer record if they insist on signing wantaway French forward, Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, Sports Brief reported.
The 24-year-old French forward has been a key target for Los Blancos, with the club’s president, Florentino Perez, confident they will sign the 2022 World Cup Golden Boot winner soon.
PSG has slapped a €200 million price tag on Mbappe as they try to offload the disgruntled star, who still has one year left on his current deal.
