Ghana’s Daniel Theophilus Asiedu secures move from Berekum Chelsea to Swiss Club FC Basel

Swiss Super League club FC Basel has signed Ghanaian defender Daniel Theophilus Asiedu from Berekum Chelsea.

The 20-year-old has agreed to a one-year contract, with an option to extend for three more years.

Asiedu, who plays as a centre-back, has previously represented Ghana at the U17 (Black Starlets) and U20 (Black Satellites) levels.

He had trials with Basel and completed them in January last year. However, his signing was delayed after medical tests revealed an old cruciate ligament injury that had not fully healed.

Asiedu will be the latest Ghanaian to join the club after Emmanuel Essiam and Jonas Adjei Adjetey.
Daniel Theophilus Asiedu is a promising young Ghanaian defender who recently signed with Swiss Super League side FC Basel.

Born on January 14, 2005, Asiedu began his career at Berekum Chelsea in the Ghana Premier League. He plays as a center-back and has represented Ghana at the U17 and U20 levels.

Asiedu joined FC Basel on a one-year deal with an option to extend for another three years. His move to Basel was delayed in January 2024 due to an old cruciate ligament injury, but he has since recovered and is now part of the club’s U21 team, with the potential to move up to the first team.
