GFA to implement transfer ban if Kotoko fails to pay FIFA fine

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has been mandated by FIFA to impose a national transfer ban on Asante Kotoko if they fail to pay the fine imposed to them by the world football governing body.

The Porcupine Warriors have been slapped with a $240,000 fine by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee for the illegal registration of Emmanuel Clottey, who was then a player of the Tunisian club in 2015.

FIFA in a statement has warned the Ghanaian club to make payment before the deadline or risk being demoted and banned from all football transfer activities.

The statement read, “As a member of FIFA, the Ghana Football Association is reminded of its duty to implement this decision and provide FIFA with proof that the transfer ban has been implemented at national level.

FIFA added that,”If the Ghana Football Association does not comply with this decision, the FIFA Discplinary Committee will decide on appropriate sanctions on the member. This can lead to explusion from FIFA competitions”.
