Ghana Football Association (GFA) is reportedly considering appointing Mauritania’s head coach, Amir Abdou, as the next head coach of the Black Stars.
According to AfricaSoccer.com, the Ghana Football Association has offered a tempting salary of $45,000 to persuade Abdou to take up the coaching role for the Black Stars.
Currently, Abdou earns a monthly salary of $35,000 with the Mauritanian Football Federation (MFF), and his contract is set to expire in March 2024.

However, Abdou is considering not extending his contract with the Mauritanian Federation due to concerns over high wage costs in the country.
Reports also indicate that the Mauritanian Federation is exploring the possibility of appointing Spanish trainer Aritz Lopez Garay as a potential replacement if Abdou decides to leave his current position.
Abdou achieved notable success with Mauritania, leading them to their best-ever AFCON campaign, where they reached the Round of 16 for the first time and secured a historic victory over Algeria.
Previously, he guided Comoros in their maiden AFCON appearance in 2021, defeating Ghana in the group stage before exiting in the Round of 16.
The Ghana Football Association sees Abdou as a suitable replacement for Chris Hughton, who led Ghana to the knockout stage of the group at the 2023 AFCON.
In the meantime, the GFA has established a five-member committee tasked with selecting a coach within the next two weeks.
