FIFA U-17 WWC Qualifier: Black Maidens set up epic clash with Nigeria in final round

The Black Maidens of Ghana will play their Nigeria in the final round of qualifiers for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Ghana made light work of Liberia on Saturday after thrashing the young Lonestars 8-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium to qualify 10-0 on aggregate.

Their Nigerian counterparts, the Flamingos thumped Guinea 5-1 at the Agege Sports Stadium to qualify 11-2 on aggregate, and set up a date with Ghana.

The first leg will be played in the first week of May in Accra barring any changes. The winner of the two legged game will qualify for the tournament in India next year.

On Saturday, striker Ophelia Osei Amponsah bagged four goals with Salamatu Abdulai netting a brace.

Elizabeth Oppong, Alice Sarpong and Tracy Twum were the other scorers on the day.

Ghana is the only African country to qualify to all FIFA U-17 women’s world cup.
