FIFA has imposed transfer ban on Hearts of Oak over unpaid coach salary. The international football governing body took this action due to the club’s failure to settle a $14,002 debt to former coach Slavko Matic.
FIFA has also directed the Ghana Football Association to enforce this decision within the country.
The dispute traces back to March 2023 when Serbian coach Slavko Matic was dismissed amid tensions, including a confrontation with angry fans during a training session.
Concerned about his safety, Matic filed a formal complaint with the Ghana Police. In response, Hearts of Oak stated their inability to guarantee his security.
Following these events, Matic sought FIFA’s intervention, resulting in a July ruling that favored the coach, instructing Hearts of Oak to pay him $14,002 for contract breach.
With the club’s non-compliance, FIFA has enforced the transfer ban, preventing the registration of new players until the debt is settled.
