Matthijs de Ligt is reportedly discontent with his situation at Bayern Munich and may seek a departure from the club during the upcoming summer transfer window, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The 24-year-old defender finds himself outside of manager Thomas Tuchel’s preferred choices for the Bundesliga champions, particularly when all defensive options are available.
This dissatisfaction was evident during Bayern’s recent 3-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen, where De Ligt remained on the bench for the entire match despite his notable performance and goal in the previous victory over Borussia Monchengladbach.
Although De Ligt is contracted with Bayern until 2027, it appears unlikely that he will remain in Bavaria for the entirety of his current deal.
Interest in the Dutch international is expected to arise in the transfer market, with European powerhouses such as Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and Barcelona reportedly monitoring his situation.
In addition to discussing De Ligt’s predicament, Plettenberg also hinted at Thomas Tuchel’s ongoing interest in securing the services of Barcelona defender Ronald Araújo.
The 24-year-old Uruguayan has been linked with Bayern, with speculation dating back to before the January transfer window.
However, no concrete move for Araújo has yet materialised, as his contract with Barcelona is set to expire in the summer of 2026.
