David Atanga sent off in KV Oostende’s defeat to Genk

In Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Genk in Belgium’s top division, KV Oostende’s David Atanga of Ghana was dismissed for violent behavior.

The former Holstein Kiel player entered the game in the 78th minute and left it in the game’s closing moments.

Ambrose of Oostende aided Hornby in making it 1-0.
To tie the score at 1-1 just before halftime, Onuachu converted a Preciado cross past goalkeeper Hubert.

The intense midfield battle and the pursuit of opportunities dominated the second half.
Rocha took over for McGeehan on the field after he sustained an injury.

In the 88th minute, Genk took the lead when Munoz assisted Hubert to make it 2-1. After a turbulent final phase and after the intervention of the VAR, the substitute David Atanga was sent off.

Atanga joined KV Oostende in August 2021 on a three-year deal.
