Manchester United is reportedly considering a summer move for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise, with discussions including the possibility of sending defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka back to Selhurst Park as part of the deal, according to sources close to ESPN’s Mark Ogden.
Olise, 22, signed a four-year contract with Palace last August after turning down a transfer to Chelsea.
However, as part of Palace’s rebuilding plans, the France under-21 international is expected to be allowed to leave this summer.
Both Liverpool and Chelsea have also shown interest in Olise, who had previous ties with Manchester City during his youth.
United, keen on securing Olise, has put forward the option of including Wan-Bissaka in the deal.
Wan-Bissaka, who made a £50 million transfer to United in 2019, had his contract extended by 12 months last month to prevent him from leaving as a free agent this summer.
However, sources suggest that this extension was mainly a strategic move by United to enhance their ability to generate funds by potentially offloading him in the upcoming transfer window.
Despite United’s interest in Olise, there are differing opinions within Old Trafford.
Some members of the recruitment team are reportedly expressing reservations, citing concerns about the previous struggles of players like Wan-Bissaka and Wilfried Zaha to make a successful transition from Palace to the more demanding environment at United.
