Colombia 2024: Black Princesses all set for friendly clash with South Korea

Head coach of the Black Princesses, Yussif Basigi, says his side is anticipating the prospect of facing South Korea as part of their preparations for the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

The game, scheduled for Tuesday, August 27, will be the team’s second high-profile test ahead of the competition which begins on August 31.

Ghana faced Mexico in the face encounter in Bogota last week with both sides failing to score a goal in the game.

Basigi believes his players are primed for action against the Asians.

“We are ready and the South Koreans we all know are a very good side, said the gaffer. “We just finished the team shaping with our dress rehearsal as to how to play them.

“I think the girls are ready. You can see there are a lot of smiles on their faces not because they feel overconfident but because it looks like now they are getting on well with the conditions here.”

The 52-year-old also believes the friendlies give his players the opportunity to prepare their minds for the main competition ahead.

“[The friendlies] are extremely important for us because I will say some of these girls have not even played international games before, some have not travelled before. This is their first experience,” he added.

“Having played will also warm themselves into the competition.”

The game against South Korea kicks off at 20:30 GMT.
